Zap! Pow! Slash! & Burn! You will discover the fun & versatility of 'Kunin Felt'. Build up decorative, lacy textures with foils and embossing powders that you can manipulate and stitch in to. Have fun with heat guns and soldering irons. Fabric Printing & Painting Potato prints, mono – prints, stencils and resists. Get back to basics and remind yourself of the creative fun you can have with simple tools and techniques. If you haven’t tried this before – then prepare to be inspired! Don’t Throw it Away Stitch It! This is a serious play day! We will work mainly with plastic bags and foil papers – melting, stitching, making bowls, beads and anything else you fancy!   Silk Paper in 2 & 3D A whole day for you to learn the simple but exciting process of silk papermaking. Stick to making and developing paper or venture into 3D making beautiful bowls or sculptural forms. (Silk packs can be bought from the tutor) On the Surface An opportunity for you to enjoy and explore all the techniques for surface decoration you have been wanting to try but haven’t yet found the time! Create wonderful surfaces to stitch – or not! Techniques will include – Hot Foiling, painted ‘Bondaweb’, 3D medium, ‘Tyvek’ & more . . . . Baubles Bangles & Beads A day of fun and experiments with wire and beads. In the morning you will learn how to make beads from fabric and plastic bags. In the afternoon you will incorporate them with other beads and broken jewellery you have bought with you to create beautiful bowls, bangles or anything else you might fancy! The choice is yours . . . Tyvek & Twinkle! Combine the exciting and transforming properties of ‘Tyvek’ and synthetic organza. Create fascinating textures and layers to stitch into and make beautiful 3D forms. Tinkering with ‘Tyvek’ One of the most exciting products to be used in textiles! We will paint it, stitch it, heat it, & incorporate it with synthetics to create fascinating textures, vessels and sculptural forms. (‘Tyvek’ can be bought from the tutor) Decorated Papers Papers of varying weights and content can be decorated and stitched just like fabric! Great for book and card making. Transform plain papers into lustrous and jewel like surfaces ready to bead and stitch into. Transfer Printing & Painting Explore the possibilities of transfer paints and crayons, creating startling colours on synthetics and more subtle effects on naturals. We will try resists, overprinting, layering and various ways of applying paint and crayons. If you enjoy playing with colour and layering fabrics – this is for you! Make a Simple Book! We will be making two basic styles of book – a concertina with a ribbon or string tie and a basic hardback codex. No experience is necessary. You will need some decorated papers for the covers so the previous workshop is recommended. Once you have made these books you will never be stuck for that special gift again! Hot Textiles An exciting workshop giving you the opportunity to experiment with all the new products in Kim’s new book Hot Textiles. The day will include using Lutradur, HPV+ (heavy pelmet Vilene plus) Cello – foil and cellophane. Creating Original Designs Learn how to generate original designs form scratch. You will never be afraid of a blank piece of paper again. Our inspiration will come from architecture, nature, geometry, and photographs. Create borders, single designs and patterns. This course is suitable for beginners or anyone who need to build their confidence in this field.
