Hot Textiles – 010360 14th – 18th July 2008 daily 1000 – 1600
Come and indulge in a week of experimentation with all the new materials available for zapping and slashing. We will be using transfer paints and crayons to colour the work then distorting with different types of heat tool. Texture, layers and stitch will be used to create amazing surfaces. Come try out Lutradur and the new HPV+ (heavy pelmet Vilene plus).

Transforming Transfers - 1000 - 1600
Discover the joys of layering techniques.
We will be working mostly with synthetic fabrics and transfer paints (disperse dyes). Learn how to us transfer paints to create beautiful effects then use heat tools to distress and work into your fabrics. This course would be suitable for anyone wishing to develop layered, stitched surfaces. You will have time to create a range of 2 and 3 dimensional samples to develop at a later date.

Creating Original Designs - 1000 - 1600
(Linked to Creating Original Printing Blocks) The first part of a workshop that spans 2 Saturdays. Never be afraid of the ‘D’ word again! We will work though several formulas for creating original designs, discussing the use of colour and materials. Working with paper, paints and pencils you will generate enough designs on this day to last you for years to come.

Creating Original Printing Blocks - 1000 – 1600
(Linked to Creating Original Designs) This workshop is for students who have attended the previous workshop for creating original designs. You will learn how to make printing blocks from your designs and experiment with ways of building up your designs with over printing.
The blocks could be used on paper or fabric.

Tantalising Transfers and Textures 29 june – 3rd july 2009
Come and rediscover the joys of transfer printing. We will be working with the latest synthetic fabrics and some old favourites. Learn how to use masks and resists successfully to create wonderful effects. Make your own printing block from your own design created on the course. Build up layers to stitch into by machine or hand. Distress with heat guns and soldering irons. You will work through several samples to a finished piece of work
